McDonald, Rotterdam / Mei architects and planners 同质化和快速化的麦当劳在鹿特丹的某个门店被评论鹿特丹最丑建筑和人们最不想看到的建筑。当地建筑事务所Mei architects and planners对这座建筑重新设计，并只使用了两个月的工期便建设出一座全新的门店，在室外广场还额外提供了座椅，成为这个城市公共空间中让人感到愉悦的一份子。在白天，透明的玻璃邀请人们进入商店，夜晚，灯光从中照射到外面，吸引人群。建筑上没有用到玻璃的外壁面采用了金色的穿孔铝板，这层宛若面纱的表皮具有不同程度的穿孔率，形成当地人群的画像，提高参与感与社区荣誉感。
